This blog of mine is almost defunct so here I am putting something relevant and up to date for it
December 2017 and I am in my studio waiting for folk to visit.
My latest and much loved Jewel Temple Series keeping me warm in colour if not in tempreture.

Have had some lovely visitors this week and enjoyed their buoyant comments. Some more than impressed and quite stunned by my difference in what I paint to what they have seen else where, always a great felling that I am SO different.

I'll keep painting if you keep coming in!

Happy days

Thursday, 31 March 2016

As I see the turmoil of my days at this brink in time I have created some of my most self indulgent pieces. I'm referring to the month of March, it is always the same. After 4 or so months without a glimmer almost of profitability it appears impossible to continue.
Apart form my usual TV watching on solar demise as in we are so small and un worthy to worry of such insurmountable moments in time that money has no real consequence apart from the local bank or bill owner wants it to be resolved NOW I find myself hectically trying to find you the buyer to cover the last 4 months of craziness.
Then what happens you all turn up like buses, well it is usually the case, what if not!

After 20 years as an artist and over 30 years self employed it is like digging and digging more into the soul and then you WILL find the gold to flow and all is well. Well I await this apparition in 2016 with anticipation.

Either way I will create art and you hopefully will observe that me as a single tiny mostly insignificant ant within the universe just may have something worth observing.
I paint life who are you

2016 and its about time I added to my Blog which I find something I neglect yet is a great place to express how my life is tuning in to the world around me.

Never sure who reads this stuff as there are so many other social media habits that Blogs to me are far from the social media spectrum.

My life as an artist is a turmoil of finding the buyers and dealers to sell to at this time of year that I find almost  in an impossible helerscelta of financial downfall
I am nearly on the verge of finding the job centres list to make the ends of the bills meet my non exuberant bank balance before it caves in and is no more.

But as I have over the 20 years as an artist found the way to make it happen, all though this year has been a particularly crazy financial burden to my soul, I will work harder and speak loader than before and the sales of my art will prevail,,, I hope

My visitors say they love what I do and this always spurs my emotions to continue.
Yes it is a tough thing to be an artist as bills will always call and we neeed your money to send them off happy.
Then there is that part of an artist where we need to finding the inspiration to actually create something, some of this as in the above are the catalyst but really! I can do it without the above, why do you all put me through this hell.

So I have started painting in 2016, only just but its a start.
Thanks for the inspiration!

There's so much I could tell you about my last 12 months but lets just concentrate on now and the future, as I would go on for ever.
I just reflect on my 6 weeks in Thailand this winter and wow all the anguish has gone and I am in love with life and living once more.

Ocean a painting I did last Summer. Echoes the weather perfectly

Thought I would share this painting "Ocean" which fits our recent weather perfectly. Its on show at Plymouth Kitchen Company in Plymstock along with examples of Kitchen door fronts with this image printed on aluminium known as chimeric prints. Looks amazing, have a small chimeric with this image for sale in my gallery too. The weather at its most destructive and wildness, breath in the air its wild and free.

City Echo in the Council House Art Display 2014

Proud to of had this painting excepted in with this year’s County Council Art Display in the Council House. Named City Echo I find that this work depicts a sense a real optimism and positive flow with the buzz of our city portrayed within the marks and sweeps of colour.

What does it make you feel??

You will be able to go and see this along with other artist’s works in the Council House, see website for details, dates coming soon

2014 and a reflection on my most recent paintings at the beginning of another year

2014 and after my usual feeling of hibernation still keeping from my full flow, do wish I had a nice warm studio with sunshine streaming in, I have had time to reflect on what has been a successful 2013 and new paintings from late on are still shining nicely on my gallery walls.
So here a few of my latest works which will spring me into spring 2014
The  new framing that has been introduced have given the paintings a real presence to each piece. Supplied by ArtSourceUK who are this year acting as my UK agents.

Exciting times are ahead

I had the most wonderful moment when Albert (Bert) Irvin came to visit me in my gallery studio on his visit to Plymouth this November 2012. I was so humbled by his presence and to spend time with the great man who is 90 year's young and still fully engaged with his art we spoke with equal excitement and cheer about the feelings we get from being a painter. He was in Plymouth to collect his Doctorate from the Plymouth Collage of Art, on the Friday I went to a talk he gave at the college which was or inspiring and so refreshing I melted into his world and soul. The college offered to bring him the following day if he wished to visit my gallery. At first the lovely lady Tima who was looking after his trip said he felt he won't be able to make it as he had a busy day ahead. But within an hour he changed his mind and asked to be picked up to come and visit me. WOW how did that happen. I am so humbled by this experience and it was a feeling I can only describe as overwhelming, like your favorite rock star standing there in front of you with his undivided attention. We had a great moment and my wife turned up on cue with the milk, said he would like to meet her and so he did. Much love and wishes to the great man.

AS I turn up the volume on Pink Floyds "Welcome to the Machine" in my gallery at 8pm, ambient lighting and acoustic walls I feel free, as my new exhibition is entitled "Wild and Free" this is what I feel when I listen to these old boys creative geniuses. As many of you older folk will know this music is so overwhelming it can take you to another place. Not where our everyday life resides but to a place of loving and life, out there, just so far away we can only dream. My thoughts take me to my first trip to Thailand in 1997 and when lying down in a hut with a fan swirling above I found myself somewhere where no one new where I was, no one I have ever met, knew or been with. It was an amazing moment, so far away from the life I had back home. I remember that day and still hold it dear to my philosophy of today. If you can escape the entrapment of western lead that pulls you where it wants you and doesn't let you where you believe you should be. We have a choice in life that is to do what we want to do, what we dream to do and then just do. I decided there in my hut that I would follow my dreams, my desires and let nothing hold me down. I now have a fulfilling life, as an artist it is a strange world to be such a person who paints life on canvas. I found that all my life it was to show my feelings was where I am happy, a place where to show and discuss all life's possibilities and dreams is a wonderful life to have. So I "Wish You Were Here" in my mind as the line goes "We're two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl"!
Been a while since I have been here, so many social media up dating to do. My Summer show ended up being in Autumn and the Private View went swimmingly last week. Many turned up some bought actual paintings and all enjoyed and devoured my wifes lovely orinental cooking, oh and drank all of my wine a part from the bottle I have in front of me well half a bottle!!! My new show named "Wild and Free" is up on the wall in my new gallery here in the Royal William Yard. If you want to visit and I hope you do then I am open Tuesday to Sunday 10 ish to 5.30pm and on some occasions into the early eve as I am here right now at 7pm! The exhibition is on and running til end of November showing my latest 2012 paintings. Comments have been so uplifting I am now sitting on the highest puffy cloud. Hope to see you. My 2012 Spring Summer exhibition is looming and I just wanted to share some photo's of the new paintings I am thinking of including. They are following on from the commission painting "Cocktail Lounge" below which has invigorated new colours and marks enthused by the sense of comfort and warmth, comments are welcome. :)

Commission painting for a client in Wales this was to fit into their front lounge and as they have two others from before to flow with them was important.
Cocktail Lounge as we titled it is on two canvases and measures 3 meters x 78 cm and is positioned nicely above a sofa of the same width dimention. Mood was important as the room is used to socialize and be a comfortable experience. Warm lush colours and marks set the painting. I will post a photo in situ when I return to see it up.

Happy or rather prosperous 2012 to you all and its an all go go go.....
My gallery will be divided a little more to make way for new large canvases for a few commissions. A lovely start to the year.
